The phenomenon, mostly in Europe, spawned from a ringtone. It was produced by Jamba! (aka Jamster) and it blew up after it released “Axel F”, a cover of Harold Faltermeyer’s Axel F.
It only charted once on Billboard’s Hot 100 (and even then, it peaked at #50). It had much better success in the UK, with Axel F reaching number one and pushing Coldplay out of the number one spot.
Crazy Frog went on to release a few singles and three studio albums, Crazy Hits, More Crazy Hits, and Everybody Dance Now, before quietly dying off in 2009.
